When you text someone using a cellphone, is it sent instantly or is there a delay?

it depends.

for other networks yes it will have a delay.

but for some it will be instantaneous.

why? its because of the traffic in their computer server. just like a road traffic. It is sent instantly. They will recieve it within a minute or two. If they haven%26#39;t replied its cause either their phone is turned off or the memory on the phone is too full to store another message. Its just like email. There is no delay. Or they are ignoring you. When I had Cingular, there was always a delay. Anywhere from a few minutes to a few days.

Verizon is outstanding, but when I was in Lake Tahoe and had 1 bar, some of my messages came through the next day.

Naturally, they were the ones from my ride from the airport. It depends on your network. I have Verizon, if someone texts me late at night I don%26#39;t get the message until 8 the next morning. Like a minute later the person gets it.
