Not all metal detectors can detect a particular thing. At airports, they%26#39;re using the most advanced one esp at the international airports. Some department stores at the entrance has metal detectors too which can and cannot detect all the things your bringing in. So you may try to enter any kind of office/dept%26#39;s, etc. which has metal detectors and try to enter with your cellphone and see yourself if it will ring or not.
*I had one time entered a department store with this "ballpen" (gold metal pen). It didn%26#39;t give any alarm. But when I entered a cinema, it gave an alarmed which I was being confiscated of all the things I have inside my bag. Of course, they tried first my cellphones but it didn%26#39;t alarm. But when they tried my "ballpen", it alarmed which prompted them to call police officers to check it thoroughly as they were afraid it contained a "bomb" even if it looks like a pen.
