What kind of cell phones can be used in mexico?, i might move there but they told me they use minute

what kind of phone should i buy here in order to use it in mexico with one of their networks? such as telcel, movistar, nextel, usacell.

Answer:

Most of the companies offer you options with the phone given for free, when you sign a contract named plan (usually you sign an 18 month obligation contract).

There is a lot of sales here.

Or perhaps you%26#39;ll choose a prepaid option. You can buy a card everywhere, in any convenience store (there are thousands of them). If it is the case, I advice you to bring any GSM phone, or buy it here (usually from 50 USD to 200 or 300 USD).

If you wish to have internet and email included, then the blackberry is a good option. But in that case I recommend you to bring it from USA, probably it will be cheaper there. But always you will need to get a plan here, and then ask the clerck to change the SIM card at the signing contract time. i dont know. most mexicans use walkie talkies. im not kidding. I have heard that the GSM phones work pretty good there. Hey, i live in the border with Mexico, and to tell you the truth don%26#39;t buy any phone in the u.s.a to take down there. You see Mexico has a lot of Factories like all the big boys,(Motorola,Ericsson%26#39;s, lg, etc.) and they have sales there too so you can imagine the prices, so wait to your there. As for service, I%26#39;d go with "Nextel" they have unlimited plans down there with minutes and 2-way(you can use it to the u.s. for free), for about 99 bucks unlimited. so there i hope it helps.
